About Lou

My creative journey began in dance theatre, where I discovered that movement, rhythm and silence can communicate what words often cannot.

Today, that same sensitivity shapes my work across photography, film and creative direction.

Originally from Belgium, I studied photography and visual arts at LUCA School of Arts and the University of Sydney's Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, where my perspective was shaped by both European and Australian approaches to art and storytelling. Now based in Sydney, my practice spans contemporary art, editorial photography and commercial storytelling, with collaborations across Australia and Europe.

Home has never been a place to me. It's a feeling., a sense of belonging, familiarity and quiet connection that can exist anywhere in the world. That search has become the thread running through everything I create.

I'm fascinated by the relationship between image, movement and sound, and by how together they can create experiences that linger long after the moment has passed. Whether through an exhibition, an editorial story or a commercial campaign, my aim is always the same: to create work that people don't simply see, but feel.

​

My artistic practice allows me to explore memory, identity and atmosphere without constraint. Through LOU. Studios, I bring that same perspective to brands, publications and cultural institutions, creating cinematic visual stories that connect with people on a deeper level.

For me, art and commerce aren't opposing worlds. Each strengthens the other. Personal projects fuel experimentation and curiosity, while commercial collaborations challenge me to translate those ideas into purposeful, meaningful communication.
